[PETERBOROUGH, ON] Sustainable Peterborough invites you to come share your ideas as part of an exciting, region-wide planning initiative. As you may already be aware, the City and County of Peterborough (including its eight member townships), along with both Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nation, are in the process of developing a Sustainability Plan for the entire Greater Peterborough Area, known as Sustainable Peterborough.
This is a collaborative planning process that is seeking to capture what we value about our community and preserve and enhance it for our current residents and businesses as well as future generations. Residents of the community have been contributing a wealth of ideas to date. For instance, Allan of Cavan Monaghan would like to see, “Many fewer cars and a much more frequent public transit system. More bike and walking trails. More homes close to work and stores.” While Daphne of North Kawartha would like to, “Retain the beauty of the area [and] clean up polluted areas and protect them.” If you have not yet had a chance to contribute your thoughts, would like to build upon your previous input, or would simply like to learn more about this important initiative, Sustainable Peterborough is hosting Community Cafes in each of the Greater Peterborough Area’s member communities. All residents, business, and organizations alike are invited to come out and enjoy complimentary local food and share their ideas for shaping the Greater Peterborough Area’s sustainable future.
