The Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield has instituted a complete lawn and garden watering ban effective immediately and until further notice.
Due to extremely high volumes of water use occurring in the last few days the Township is advising all residents in the Village of Lakefield that a complete lawn and garden watering ban is in effect until further notice. No water supplied by the Lakefield water system is permitted to be used for the purposes of watering lawns or gardens by any means (eg, hose, sprinkler, watering can) during this ban. Peterborough Utilities Services staff will be monitoring water use throughout the Village to ensure the compliance of all residents with this ban.
Residents are further asked to avoid all water use other than what is absolutely necessary and to practice responsible water conservation practices, eg. avoid car washing, topping up swimming pools, etc.
The cooperation of Lakefield residents in adhering to this ban and avoiding all unnecessary water use is appreciated and will assist in preventing the situation from becoming a more serious water shortage.

Looks like Lakefield got hosed!. Spend over $5 million dollars on an additional water tower and withing a few weeks of operation, we don’t have enough water? What’s wrong with this picture?
