Peterborough’s downtown just got a whole lot tastier.
Each week throughout the summer, Farm to Table Peterborough offers culinary foot tours of downtown Peterborough. These weekly events, which see patrons sampling products from independent retail stores and restaurants across the downtown core, showcase some of the best local, seasonal, and artisanal foods that the area has to offer. The tours depart each Wednesday at 1:00pm from the Downtown Farmer’s Market.
“It’s a fun and tasty way to explore the downtown,” says tour guide, Donald Fraser. “We’re hitting a great variety of local businesses, by foot and by fork!”
The Downtown Culinary Tours include stops at a number of retail outlets, including Chasing the Cheese, Naked Chocolate, and Black Honey Bakery. There are beer tastings at local breweries, VQA wine tastings at local wine bars, and seasonal food samples at a revolving list of restaurants, including Rare Grill House, Brio Gusto, and the brand new Le Petit Bar.
“I want to make sure that these fantastic downtown businesses get some recognition and promotion,” says Fraser. “We have an incredible culinary scene, with brilliant chefs, top-notch restaurants, and unique specialty food stores. So far, we’ve been attracting people from across Central Ontario to explore some of the brilliant tastes that downtown has to offer. And so far everyone has walked away with a smile on their face.”
