May 2 – 30 ~ Peterborough Power & Sail Squadron NEW Electronic Navigation class, which runs every Monday and Thursday evening (excluding May 20) from May 2 to May 30. This will be an eight session (4 week) training seminar for Electronic Navigation and will introduce you to the versatile Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. With this course you will learn simple explanations of the system which makes GPS such an effective navigational aid, and methods of extracting the maximum navigational information from your equipment. Improved position information, course planning and real time speed/direction data improves your boating safety and cruise enjoyment, while reducing transit time and fuel consumption. Learn about the different kinds of electronic charting, how they were developed, their advantages and disadvantages, and how to use them. Get the latest information about connecting your GPS to a laptop, desktop, PDA or tablet computer, and navigational programs. You get practical knowledge by using an electronic charting program that is included on the accompanying CD with over 200 electronic charts. May 22 ~ THE ANNUAL LILAC MUFFIN PARTY at Bridgenorth United Church – 9:00A.M. – 11:30A.M. – prepared by the women of the Church. All you can eat muffins, homemade jam, tea, coffee and juice!! Handsome and Dapper men serving you!! A Deli table and a bake table for you to buy your goodies, and a plant table with a wonderful selection of quality plants for the garden, including Geraniums, Begonias, and more provided by Johnston’s Greenhouse. May 25 ~ The annual Plant and Bake Sale will take place on Saturday, May 25th, at the Cavendish Community Centre, Community Complex Dr. on Cty. Rd. 507 ( 15 km. north of Flynn’s Corners ). The time: 8.30 to 11 a.m. Early shoppers will find a good variety of perennials and home baked goods and can enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and muffins.
May 25 ~ The Ennismore and District Horticultural Society will be partnering with the Ennismore Library book sale from 9 – 1.
